We're Going To The Zoo, Zoo, Zoo...

This is a bit of a change from my usual long, wordy posts (not a permanent change though, there is a Poland post that could rival 'War and Peace' coming up next week!)...

Today we went to South Lakes Safari Zoo in Dalton-in-Furness, Cumbria.  It's not too far from where we live and we figured it would be something nice to do to brighten up a cold, miserable Saturday.

I'd love to pretend I could tell you all about the animals you're about to see when you scroll down but I can't.  We went very much for aesthetics rather than information!

We started with the giraffes...

(I had to crop this next pic as I'd accidentally taken a really good picture of another's giraffe's bum at the right side of the frame... Not pretty!)

Then there were some reindeer, who decided to have a little fight while we were watching...

Then there was a rhino, who was contentedly munching away...

Baby monkeys (not sure what kind!) having a little piggy-back...

This little guy stole my heart!  Complete cuteness overload...  I could have stood and watched him all day....

Snow leopards...

Wolves...

This is what a leopard looks like when it's just heard a lion roaring...

Miserable monkey sitting on his own while all the others were hanging out inside...

Penguins...

And a duck pretending to be a penguin (imposter alert!!)...

No idea what sort of birds these are but they were fascinated with this crocodile statue...  The one on the left kept sticking his head in and looking very confused when it pulled it back out and it hadn't been bitten off!

More monkey piggy-back cuteness...

Flamingos...

Zorro bird...

More cuteness...

...and a cute pink-headed duck that was wandering around the path.

There were lions, tigers and bears (oh my!) as well but they had the good sense to stop inside as it had started pouring down with rain by the time we got to them, so there wasn't much viewing to be done.

So there we go, possibly the shortest blog post I will ever write but I think the pics speak for themselves in this case.

If you're interested in South Lakes Safari Zoo you can find out all about it (opening times, prices, etc.) here.

Have a wonderful weekend!
